Lecture Summary:

Obtaining and interpreting useful diagnostic images in practice can be challenging. This 2 day course will discuss the major techniques available to the practitioner with practical tips to develop your skills and outlining common errors to avoid. Using case based examples the anatomy and normal variations of each area will be reviewed before considering the different changes encountered in disease.

At the end of this course you will be more confident in using and interpreting these different techniques in your patients and allowing you to gain a sense of what can be realistically achieved in your practice.

Specific areas to be covered are:-

  • Rhinoscopy – CT, radiographs and rigid endoscopy
  • Thoracic radiographs – normal variations and diagnostic patterns
  • Bronchoscopy – evaluation of the upper respiratory tract
  • Cardiac ultrasound – standard protocol for cardiac examination

Specific areas to be covered are:-

  • Interpreting abdominal radiographs
  • Endoscopic evaluation of the upper gastrointestinal tract
  • Abdominal ultrasound- recognising the appearance of common diseases
  • Endoscopic evaluation of the lower gastrointestinal tract
