Derek Flaherty BVMS, DVA, DipECVAA, MRCA, MRCVS, FHEA
Derek qualified from Glasgow in 1988 and then spent 6 years working for the PDSA before returning to his alma mater to undertake a residency in Veterinary Anaesthesia. He is now Senior Lecturer and Head of the Anaesthesia Service within the School. Derek holds both the RCVS Diploma in Veterinary Anaesthesia and the Diploma of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, and has gained specialist status from both organisations. His research interests are mainly focussed on total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA) in dogs, and peri-operative haemostasis.

Our orthopaedic service, with state-of-the-art facilities, including MRI and CT scanning, and expert nursing care, provides the highest level of veterinary orthopaedic care available.
We use the highest quality equipment and perform minimally invasive techniques where appropriate from Chihuahuas to Great Danes.
We have special miniature fracture systems for cats and small dogs.
